What do I need to do to get ready to apply to colleges?

Question by : What do I need to do to get ready to apply to colleges?
Even though it is only summer, I’m getting anxious about applying this fall for college. I’m retaking a class this summer to improve my GPA, which, to my knowledge, is a 3.2, but I haven’t figured up my last semesters grades. I’m looking into what colleges I wan to apply to, but there are so many, it’s hard to choose just 3-5 to apply to.

What do I need to do to prepare to apply?
Please give me a serious answer.

If you’re re-posting this repeatedly hoping to get the answer you want to hear you’re wasting your time and server space. This behavior is rather obsessive and immature.

  1. What you need to get ready for is the cost. College is expensive and I would worry more about finding a way to pay for it with grants and scholarships unless you have a parent that is paying for it. A 3.2 GPA will get you into most state colleges with a decent SAT or ACT score. Don’t worry even C’s get degrees.

  2. “Only” summer? If you’re going to be a Senior this Fall, you should already be well on your way to getting your applications prepared, having visited some colleges, ideally, and done a lot of research as to what programs are available where, costs, admission requirements, taking SAT/PSAT, etc.

Either talk with your guidance counselor right away, or go to the library and start combing the stacks for books on how to apply for college – ask the librarian. Most libraries have entire sections devoted to this subject. Or, there’s always the Internet! Lots of college-preparation websites there.

And, you may want to apply to more than 3-5. You should have at least one “reach” school, two or more “match” schools and at least two “safety” schools.

    Good luck!!
